Our own Lake Margaret is the first lake on the Gull Chain of Lakes to be added to the impaired waters list due to excessive levels of nutrients.

In 2005 Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) testing found significantly higher than normal levels of phosphorous in Lake Margaret, which is a plant nutrient that can encourage excessive algae growth in a lake.

We will post information, links and meeting dates as they become available

Meeting dates:

Look for the minutes of the City of Lake Shore Planning and Zoning Committee meeting from June 12 for information on the ETOC plans on the City Of Lake Shore website.

ETOC  presented its sketch plan for their proposed development (The Grand) on the west side of Lake Margaret. There was also a report on controlled access lots/docks. The agenda is on the City of Lake Shore website at:  http://www.cityoflakeshore.com/planning_agenda.htm

This map is a GPS mapping conducted in June 2006 by the DNR of curly leaf pondweed in Lake Margaret.  Areas from shore to the red line contain curly leaf.  The blue areas contain no curly leaf.  The tracking was done by visual contact with curly leaf.  Depending on the clarity of the water it can vary, meaning there maybe more curly leaf than could be seen at the time.
